Active Listening

"We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak." ~ Epictetus

Once learners have established a community of interest through previous free writes and compare/contrast tasks, supplemental active listening tasks are beneficial to continue to spark learner curiosity in the particular community.  This page provides an example of active listening that ties into a study abroad community through making predictions.

Active listening is a three-step process and is further explained in the PDF provided.  An additional graphic organizer is also provided to help learners organize their thoughts while listening actively.
